LIVE: Fool's Gold presented by Red Bull Sound Select @ Echoplex, L.A.
The Echoplex in Los Angeles was rocked Thursday, August 27th as Red Bull Sound Select presented three bands with one mission in mind: to make everyone dance the night away. Opening the night was Quitapenas, a Latin band from the Inland Empire outside of Los Angeles. The rockers channeled the spirit of old LA by combining classic Latin groves with new rock and bright musicality that got the entire crowd grooving along with their songs "Vamos a mi casa," "Guayabo" and "Me llevaba".
Next to take the stage was Isaac Rother and The Phantoms. The ghoulish band possessed the dancing crowd like voodoo dolls as they rocked songs like "The Phantom", "I'm a ghost" and "Bad luck baby put a jinx on me". The Rocky Horror-esque band left the crowd haunted with the spirit of rock and roll as they closed their set with "Hitman".
Closing the Red Bull Sound Select showcase was the Los Angeles based band, Fool's Gold. The band has garnered a loyal worldwide fan base since releasing their debut album in 2009. The crowd gathered around the stage as the five-piece band, fronted by the soulful voice of Luke Top and the rhythmic guitar riffs from Lewis Pesacov, played hits like "The Dive", "I'm in Love" the debut single from their new album, and "Flying Lessons" which shares the name of the new album, released on ORG records. During the high energy set, Fool's Gold invited Quitapenas back on stage, and together, really got the crowd moving for the finale.
