BEST OF 2011: TV Show You Should Be Watching: Misfits
For many of you who don't know me, I'm Jazmine Johnson, the newest contributing writer for the couch sessions. Winston and I in an interview I did with him for a school project, saw eye-to-eye on a lot of things, from changes in music to one of our favorite shows, Misfits. To show my appreciation for being added to the team, I created a Misifits-themed mix which can be found here.
For those who don't know, Misfits is a UK science fiction show which follows 5 unknowing community service workers in South London who suddenly gain supernatural powers during a freak storm. What sets the show apart is, initially at least, their super powers are derived from their insecurities. The show has won rave reviews across the pond, winning a few BAFTA (British Emmy) awards and getting critical acclaim, even spawning a US remake that is in production now.

Im totally obsessed with the show. I have been watching since 2009 when season one first started. For those of you who have never seen the show or need to catch up, Hulu now has Seasons 1 and 2 online. For others who have been watching, but have to wait until season 3, this is where I come in. I will be giving you detailed summaries of each episode so far.
Season 3 is well underway and I'm sure a lot of you are apprehensive about watching because (spoiler!) Nathan is no longer on the show. As a Misfits fanatic, I'm a bit disappointed anyone would feel this way. I will admit, Nathan was an amazing character: funny, simple, yet charming; he definitely stole the spotlight, but each character brings their own dynamic, making Misfits as as whole, a great show. Only liking MIsfits because of Nathan is like only liking OFWGKTA because of Tyler, the Creator, but that is a different topic, for a different day.
For those of you who haven't stopped watching the show, let's reminisce, for those of you who are apprehensive about it, let's talk, for those of you who have stopped, let me persuade you to start up again, and finally, for those who have no idea what Misfits is about, I welcome you, with open arms, to the dark side, or better yet, the supah powha side (Kelly's chav voice).
Season 3 of Misfits premieres Monday December 19th on Hulu. Check it at Hulu.com/misfits.
