MUSIC: BADBADNOTGOOD - CS60

If you hate easy listening like I do, and Smooth Jazz is everything that’s wrong with America, then the return of BADBADNOTGOOD with “CS60” may have just given you another reason to Keep Calm and Carry On. With III on the way, the jazz trio’s conspicuously titled third album, “CS60” lets the black cat out of the bag. Their irreverent fusion of rhythm and bass standards into cool jazz tradition is not lost on the lead single. The boom bap is ever present, but with a cacophony of sounds that bring the bad. “CS60” is moody, changing from boding to a carefully composed nonchalance that creeps in and out of the almost 7 minute mo’ betta groove. In all, a BADBAD-oh-so-GOOD omen of what’s to come.
