LIVE: Turntable.fm Does SXSW with Araabmuzik, Questlove, A-Trak, and Diplo

To be honest, I was only going to roll through the Turntable.fm party just to see Araabmuzik and bounce. Araab was like that fish that I ever caught. I would always be too early or too late to see him perform and would get mad when friends would tell tales of his prowless. Thankfully I did get to see Araabmuzik this time around and not surprisingly he killed it. I know the term "dude is a beast" has become cliche, but there is no other way to describe it. Dude is a BEAST!

Next up was A-Trak, who went through a medley of electro, house, hip-hop, and his own tracks with Duck Sauce, in addition to doing what someone in the audience called "some DMC shit" (referring to his DMC World Championship win) in the middle. The rave-style warehouse was the perfect setting for Mr. Macklovitch and the crowd agreed.
Honestly, I was concerned for my boy Questlove. After the EDM-heavy sets from Araabmuzik and A-Trak, I questioned whether Quest's laid back hip-hop style would go over well in the warehouse. Well, I have to say that Quest had the most surprising (and possibly the best) set of the night. Ranging from hip-hop to oldies to even go-go (Yes, go-go! DC stand up!) without breaking a sweat. What Quest did was nothing short of spectacular.
As Diplo closed out the night I have to say...Turntable.fm did the damn thing. The four DJs on the bill pretty much brought it in their own way and it was most certainly the highlight of SXSW. Check it.
