MUSIC: SZA -Child’s Play Ft. Chance The Rapper

SZA gets in on the TDE uprising releasing “Child’s Play.” Her witty euphemisms of youthful games for past and failed loves sounds beautiful over a hypnotic snare and hi-hat that hold equally spellbound. Clever references to Street Fighter’s Ryu and, better, Skipper’s envy of Barbie, play more like punch lines than poetics. Still, Chance The Rapper adds both rhymes, harmonies and 1940’s gangster impressions making SZA’s emotive vibes even more lively.
