Trinidad & Tobago native Destra Garcia is a superstar of soca, the dance-spiked heir to calypso and official soundtrack to Carnival's joyful allure.
Her 2015 track is perhaps the best introduction to this proclaimed “Queen of Bacchanal.” Don’t let the mellow trance intro fool you—the track flips to an irresistible dance groove in a flash, as Garcia implores you to get “looser than Lucy.” Oh, and the animated music video serves as Garcia’s autobiographic, step-by-step guide to Caribbean booty-poppin’.
Destra Garcia will bring all the Carnival flavor to SXSW 2016 on Saturday, March 19 from 12:00AM-12:40AM at Buffalo Billiards.
