Songs With The Same Title: "Quicksand"

You thought we forgot about this post category, didn't you? Well we didn't...we've just been really busy covering other things. Like the title says, today's song title is "Quicksand." It's a pretty unique word, but I was actually surprised by how many songs have that title. But before we get started, I felt it neccessary to get a proper scientific explanation from EVERYONE'S favorite TV scientist, Bill Nye, The Science Guy:

Now that we're all on the same page about "Quicksand", let's start....

1. "Quicksand" Britney Spears

This track, which is a bonus track off of Britney's album Circus was actually written by everyone's favorite walking circus Lady Gaga. She's also featured on the track. It's basically what you would expect from a Britney Spears/Lady Gaga collabo. Except minus the gratuitous sexual lyrics. Or maybe I didn't listen that carefully.

2. "Quicksand" Keri Hilson

Keri Hilson's version, however, while also a bonus track off her album In A Perfect World, is pretty gratuitous. In her lyrics, "Quicksand" seems to be a euphemism for...well...just listen. It's a dope track though.

3. "Quicksand" La Roux

Keeping with the ladies, let's move to this sexy track featuring Elly Jackson of the British pop duo La Roux. This was one of their first singles and it was definitely a banger. The video has a totally retro feeling to it making it my favorite track out of this particular "Songs With The Same Name."

4. "Quicksand" Ryan Leslie

Not to forget the guys on this one...Ryan Leslie had a track called "Quicksand" that was on his self-titled album from earlier this year. While I'm not a huge Ryan Leslie fan, this track is pretty good. It's definitely one for the "vibing out at home with my honey" playlist.

5. "Quicksand" Lit

Remember these guys? They had that video where Pamela Anderson was a giant and they were performing on her rear-end. Anyway, I know this album was on rotation for me while I was in high school, but "Quicksand" was never a track that really stuck out.

6. "Quicksand" Abdel Wright

This track is sort of like the Debbie Downer of the group. Not because it's a bad song, but more because it's actually talking about serious issues...like the government and the state of things. Or at least the state of things as they were when Abdel Wright's self-titled album came out in 2005. "Quicksand" was the top single and earned the Jamaican singer/songwriter some fame amongst the conscious liberals who drink coffee at Starbucks. But for real, back when I first started writing for The Couch Sessions, I posted a write up about him.  Yeah. I'm a conscious liberal who drinks Starbucks.

And that's it! Thanks for tuning in again to another edition of "Songs With The Same Title". Remember, if you noticed that we missed a video, please leave it in the comments section. Stay tuned for the next edition!
