RISING 2012: Azealia Banks

Get to know the name Azealia Banks because she will be taking over musically. From Harlem, NYC, this lyricist grew up in performing arts, going to LaGuardia High School, home to alumni like Nicki Minaj and Al Pacino. Being so artistic, there was never a time Banks wasn't acting, rapping, and singing. Her strong influence on the internet though, was largely due to her rapping, though she prefers to sing. You can get a glimpse of her styles in numerous songs like "Seventeen", "L8R", and a cover of Interpol's "Slow Hands". Now Banks is generating buzz for her fast-paced, heavy-pop track "212" which has been played in clubs worldwide. It showcases Banks at her best: sassy, driven, and with a serious potty mouth. Things are continuing to look up for her, as she is close to being signed with a label, and most recently, has been named one of  BBC's Sound 2012 artist amongst A$AP Rocky and Frank Ocean. Banks is reaching global domination, fast. Based in London, she is now working on her much anticipated album with Florence + The Machine producer, Paul Epworth.
