NYC: Show and Prove Super Bowl With DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and Large Professor

Monday July 5th Brooklyn Bodega and YUME will be kicking off the Festival Week at Brooklyn Bowl with their season ending installment of Show and Prove!! Now is not the time for monthly competitors because this is the Super Bowl of Show and Prove. We will be pitting all the past winners of the 09-10 season against one another in order to crown a 2010 champion and opener for the Festival Main Day on Sat. July 10th.

St. Joe Louis

After two stalled attempts to release projects on independent labels St Joe Louis go it alone with their first release 30,000ft High & Rising. The title speaks to the increasing pressure to travel toward your dreams and is a nod to the seminal DeLa Soul 3ft High & Rising. St Joe Louis is a trio composed of Elete the groups producer/emcee, Tom Chase (emcee)and Michael Cardigan (emcee). The project is produced entirely by Elete and after the pounding drums of the opener 30,000 start it seems he is up to the challenge. The project features Skyzoo, PH (formerly pumpkinhead), Silent Knight and others

THE CROWD

In 2008, three very unique and multi-talented artists came together and formed a super group now known as The Crowd!

Akil Dasan, originally from Philly, is a guitar playing, beatboxing, rhyme spitting, ballad singing, break dancing phenomenon who has played in every major American City, London, Paris, Berlin, Zurich, Helsinki, toured with Maroon 5, Kevin Michael, Musiq, and has been featured on M.T.V, B.E.T, & A.B.C just to name a few!

Randy Mason originally from the Bronx is an emcee, song writer, author, & freelance writer who has played all through out N.Y.C, opening for legendary Hip Hop artist such as Boot camp click, & Cl Smooth and many many others.

Last but most definitely not least, the female representative in the group is the super soulful Adeline originally from Paris, France. Adeline is an amazing vocalist, song writer, & guitar player who has also traveled the world (Finland, Greece, Belgium, Norway, London, Czech Republic just to name a few spots!) playing live music and stirring up quite the buzz.

KALAE ALL DAY

Love child of Jimi Hendrix and Lauryn Hill, emcee/singer/songwriter and self proclaimed “vandal,” Kalae “All Day” is swiftly making an impression in the underground Hip Hop scene. At the ripe age of 21, the Harlem native has done over 30 shows at popular city venues, such as Sputnik, The Knitting Factory, Public Assembly, Highline Ballroom, SouthPaw and Ashford and Simpsons Sugar Bar, and has opened up for rappers Jean Grae and Talib Kweli (Idle Warship) all since the summer of 2008. At an arresting 5’10 (6’’ with her afro) Kalae brings the energy and presence of a vet to her stage show and leaves the crowd in awe and begging for more. To appease her high demanding fans, Kalae released her first recorded project executively produced by chart topping artist Princess Superstar, entitled “AFROMATIKNEOHIPPIEROCK*SOLEMUSIK” March 17th 2009.

POETIC REPUBLIC

Poetic Republic emerges as a fresh take on true-school hip-hopsentiments by incorporating live instrumentation, layers of sound and a steady lyrical pulsation.

The group’s latest effort entitled "The Natural Progression Of Things" was released on August 1st, 2008 to much critical praise and fan enthusiasm. They are known for their excellent performances. After the release Rem and Ahp enlisted the help of the most accomplished area musicians to complete their vision. Adding Asante on drums, Angelo on Guitar, Frank Soul on keys, and Dj Ceven on the turntable, Poetic rapidly became the most respected and well received hip-hop outfit in the state of Ohio. The group has been nominated for consecutive Ohio Hip-Hop Awards. They have also shared the stage with many legends such as Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh, Camp Lo, Little Brother, Slum Village, Lyrics Born, and Conya Doss. Poetic is unique in the excellence exhibited in their stage show.

MIKEFLO

Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, mikeflo (emcee/producer/DJ) of the RBG family, has not only made a name for himself in the hip hop community in the states but has captured the attention of music lovers all over the world by using the intellectual stamina of an emcee to sketch revolutionary thoughts on the canvas of the listener’s mind. mikeflo has done what few emcees have been able to do. He has creatively merged “conscious” lyrics with an intense sonic backdrop to create music with a powerful message that forces you to nod your head religiously.
