New Music: Ruby Frost- Moonlight
Whilst Ladyhawke has been in hiding making her new album, there's been another young New Zealand lady winning indie hearts over, and she goes by the name of Ruby Frost.
Ruby (or Jane de Jong as she was known back then) and I went to the same high school, and if I recall correctly she was either one or two years younger than me and I always found her quite intriguing. One, because she has thee most electric blue eyes you can imagine, and two, her obsession with music was always evident. She was in our school choir for as long as I can remember, and I remember her for always walking around holding either an instrument or a songbook. Fast forward seven years and well beyond the shackles of an all girls Catholic school, and you'll find an extremely talented young songstress that is bound to have all those indie lovers swooning over her catchy electro-pop beats and sweet, melodic hooks. Her Moonlight EP is dropping in the next few months.
Check below for a VERY dope remix of Moonlight by another relatively unknown Kiwi, Leno Lovecraft.

For all you dubstep fans, here is a stellar track from current NZ dubstep darlings, Mt Eden Dubstep off their recently released free EP MEDS (you can download for free here). Ruby lends some hauntingly beautiful vocals to this dark, downtempo dubstep track, definitely one I've had on high rotation lately.
