NEW MUSIC: Lapalux - Nostalchic

Lapalux-Nostalchic

Every now and then you come across an artist that makes you think that you've stumbled upon something special - really special. And you dig around frantically to see what else have they've produced because you want to confirm your hunch, or assure yourself they're not a 'one hit wonder', or simply to hear more of their brilliance. This is exactly how I felt when I came across Nostalchic by Lapalux.

The first British artist signed to Brainfeeder, 25-year-old Stuart Howard is by no means a novice, having self-released his Forest EP in 2011 (originally on cassette in 2008) and done remixes for artists as Lianne La Havas, Bonobo, Tawiah and Aluna George.

Nostalchic is an impressive debut album. Richly layered, seductively atmospheric with luscious, well-crafted grooves, Lapalux has a textured production style akin to Burial, Bonobo and Flying Lotus but undoubtedly distinctive. Nostalchic is essentially an electronic soul and R&B album - with an emotional depth that grips you intensely from start to finish and hits you in all the right places.

But don't take my word for it, you can stream the album on Resident Advisor and judge for yourself. But take my word for it, you don't want to sleep on this.
