New Music: Kimbra - Settle Down

I love music in it's simplest form and this track from Kimbra delivers.

At it's heart is a simple scat and hand claps. That is all. Sure there are some light strings toward the bridge but whoever produced this song went for simplicity over pop indulgence....and it works.

The New Zealand born/Australian livin' songstress' first single is downright quirky as she talks about trying to grab another woman's guy and "settle down." And the video, directed by Guy Franklin is just as interesting, as her and her girl posse dance in front of burning dolls, no doubt a inference to the burning away of childhood fantasies.

But let me stop. I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more from Kimbra on this side of the pond. (via The Maroon Cafe)
