M.I.A - Haters

M.I.A addresses her haters, surveillance, NYtimes, the government and all, with the appropriately titled track mixed from her recordings of her upcoming album, /\/\/\Y/\ (if you couldn't tell it's supposed to say Maya). Since it's M.I.A, I'd say she can get away with the slash type font. But it also doesn't come as a big surprise that she settled on her first name, her real name's Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam by the way, as her last two albums Arular and Kala have been named after her father and mother, respectively. Any bets as to her next album title, I get a feeling it might have something to do with her son?
Now I'm feeling this latest song a lot more than the previously released XXXO, though obviously this track serves a different purpose than XXXO, since everybody keeps saying it's supposed to be her radio-friendly track. Haters isn't one of her more danceable jams, there's a darker nature to this one. It's a dubstep and grime tinged mix with a well-placed sample as a hook. Though I imagine the danceable issue can be fixed with the dozens of remixes which will undoubtedly start to pop up sooner or later. Unfortunately, this song is said to not have made it into the final track list of the album.
Also, M.I.A. will be featured in this July as a part of the Hard music festival in LA and NYC along with a lot of other party starters, check out the Hard summer site here for more details.
And lastly, if ya haven't heard yet, /\/\/\Y/\ drops on July 13th -- get it.
