NEW MUSIC: Andrew Ashong - Flowers

Released on the Sound Signature label, "Flowers" is a captivating track that has London music heads talking.

Flowers EP is Ghanaian-British Andrew Ashong’s first solo release, and the title track is a collaboration with Detroit’s master sound sculptor Theo Parrish. They previously teamed up last year for a rework of "You're No Good" by About Group.

Back in the studio, Ashong and Parrish have cooked up a delicious, summery, soulful offering. Ashong's vocals, wonderfully reminiscent of Shuggie Otis, are delicately infused with deep Detroit house flavors. A slice of heaven that's a definite dance floor delight.

"Flowers" is undoubtedly my track of the summer. I personally find it impossible not to smile while dancing to it, and I dare anyone to try. Have a listen here.

On the B-side of Flowers EP are the funky stylings of "Take it Slow" and the pared down, folkey "The Way She Moves", showcasing Ashong's versatile, velvety voice and extensive musical abilities.

This record is a must have!
