MUSIC: Topaz Jones – Get Lost

As autumn temps begin to drop, New Jersey-based MC Topaz Jones offers up a slice of West Coast warmth. His new single, “Get Lost,” finds the rapper California Dreamin’ about buying a one-way ticket to an idyllic, sun-drenched wonderland where celebrities routinely drop by your house parties and the cannabis is "so strong, even if it ain’t an earthquake, bet ya feel the planet shift."
But it’s not all good vibes and sunshine. A self-imposed dose of reality on the chorus harshes Jones’ mellow: "One of these days, boy, your ass gon' have to grow up...Can't keep on flying West whenever it's getting colder."
Mirroring the mood shift, the tune flits between bumpin’ funk and head-nodding cool grooves. It was produced by Jones himself and Episode, an NYC-based electro/indie rock band. Theirs is clearly a fruitful partnership, as Episode also collaborated on Jones’ previous singles, the undeniable G-Funk flavors of “Tropicana” and “Motion Sickness.”
