MUSIC: Daphni - Vikram

Canadian music producer Caribou has released a new song under his "Daphni" moniker. While his Caribou project pushes the boundaries of what one would expect from a typical electronic music act under Daphni he tends to embrace its more dance-able forms. Vikram is an ode to the 80's electro days with synths and drum patterns that would be right at home in the soundtrack to Beat Street; there's slices of acid influenced synths along with break dance friendly drum patterns.
What makes this track a good one is that while it's definitely an homage to the past its not just a straight jack; there's lots of quirky sounds going on but they work in the song and would have worked decades ago too. Play it loud on your boombox while you're poppin and lockin on the street corner for change to buy some Italian ices.
