MUSIC: Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival 2013

bemf_259

No longer the sleepy little town where young thugs grew up to branch out and rob other neighborhoods Brooklyn's come into it's own because of hipsters, trendy urbanites, and formerly cheaper NYC rents. It's only right poor little Brooklyn gets it's own big time events and this years Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival looks to be it.

This weekend (November 8th, 9th and 10th) come to one of Brooklyn's scariest hoods as far as rent is concerned, Williamsburg. Seriously tho, unlike Manhattan who's nightlife hotspots are separated by over a mile at times, the little corridor of west Williamsburg has some of the best live music/club venues in the city all within stones throw distance and the organizers of the BEMF are taking advantage. Cameo, Glasslands, Music Hall of Williamsburg, etc. And in true "Cool Brooklyn" fashion there isn't a lick Avicii crossover nonsense, just forward thinking dance music. For a taste of what we are talking about, listen to Star Slinger's brand new BEMF themed mixtape below.
