MUSIC: 100s - IVRY

100s is someone who's made a complete world for himself. Sent to boarding school in Africa, it was there he became enamored with the street raps of characters like Lil Boosie and when he came back he doubled down on a rap pimp persona so hard it makes Rick Ross seem believable. What makes 100s worthy of a listen in a sea of misogynistic rap is that he's so firmly in character he builds entire worlds over the length of his mix tapes. IVRY, his second mixtape, continues in this tradition. While I don't know what the market is for Too Short pimp raps are in 2014, its interesting hearing him mine that era and finding new corners to explore.
