I've been feeling a bit of Bay Area nostalgia as of lately. And although I will finally make it home in November, I have been digging through my MP3 archives to find some old school NorCal tunes to keep me satisfied for the time being. After slappin' everyone from The Luniz, Richie Rich, Souls of Mischief and even... MC Hammer (yeah I said it), I surprisingly came across a gem that I had somehow completely forgotten about.

The groups name is Latyrx and it is comprised of Lateef the Truth Speaker and Lyrics Born; together they came out with a song back in 1996 called "Lady Don't Tek No" and it is without a doubt a 100% certified banger.

The song is all about a sassy dope chick who for the most part don't take no shit from anyone. The beat is so Cali with it's high amount of funk and the duo rhymes so perfectly into the beat that I can't for the life of me figure out how this song slipped through so many cracks. I'm not too sure what Latyrx is up to today, but having a song like "Lady Don't Tek No" on your rap resume is not a bad feat. In fact it can be considered a hip hop classic.
