13 Years Later: And We're All Still Missing Biggie

Today marks the 13 year anniversary of the death of Brooklyn legend Christopher Wallace - aka- The Notorious B.I.G. And if you're like me, than you're thinking, 'damn has it really been 13 years?'.  And the answer is: yeah man, it has.

I'm sure most of you remember where you were when you first caught wind of his fatal death in LA. I was easing into the end of my freshman year at Howard University - still seriously morning Tupac Shakur, who had died exactly six months prior. However, I was crazy cised over Biggie's forthcoming double disc CD, Life After Death and could not get even close to enough of Going Back to Cali.

His death sent such an alarming shock wave through the hip hop community - one that is still closely felt. And with his (and Pac's) case still remaining unsolved the murder(s) feel just as pointless and ridiculous as ever.

But instead of letting the frustration of the way ish goes down in the world get to me, I'm going to use this day to celebrate his life as well as my own - and enjoy some of the things that get me amped up and excited. One of those things being music and today the music of the Notorious B.I.G.

So today -slap his songs, watch his videos, watch the movie, wave your Rollie in the sky or rock his t-shirt. Do whatever you you have to do to appreciate life and remember one of the greatest MC's to EVER storm this planet.
