REVIEW: The Cake and Cookie Spot
About a week ago we were out with a friend, the evening started off as a bit of a letdown after we discovered the vegetarian restaurant we wanted to try in Squirrel Hill wasn’t open. We decided to try what turned out to be some pretty amazing places in Pittsburgh. The evening's highlight was the Cake and Cookie Spot, a small pastry shop I’ve passed on a number of occasions, but because of its unassuming nature and assured high caloric value, I never thought to pull my car over and give it a try. Boy, was I WOW’d!
The Cake and Cookie Spot is a small operation run by Katie and Sue, the sweetest mother/daughter team dedicated to making sweet treats delicious and affordable. They specialize in cakes and cookies of course, but they do a fair share of catering, baking events and breakfast treats. On my visit to the “Spot” that night, I tried the margarita cake shot, super sprinkle and chocolate chunk cookies, and the cinnamon sugar donut. That’s a bit much for one person; don’t worry - I split it with two other friends. I just had to make sure I was thoroughly impressed. Things were so amazing I took home their ultimate chocolate chip cookie. It was OMG Delicious, too! I've been back twice so far, It's just nice to find a good cookie in the city. If you ever need sweet bite, check them out whether you live in Pittsburgh or just passing through.
