FOOD: Twenty Tap - SoBro [INDY]
If you are searching for a craft beer and dining destination in South Broad Ripple, then Twenty Tap is the first and last place you will need to look. Contrary to its namesake, Twenty Tap features a 38 tap bar with a rotating draught selection featuring some of the best local Indianapolis brews, as well as beers from many top craft breweries around the country. The constantly changing tap menu changes often, so each visit you will be able to try something new and delicious. There is also a great selection of bottled beers to choose from and while Twenty Tap may not serve alcohol, wine is available by the glass.
Twenty Tap holds its ground on the 54th street block of College Avenue with a unique selection of food and beers. The bar is typically crowded and on most nights you will find standing room only. Not there aren’t enough seats, this place just gets packed! During the warmer months outdoor seating is at premium with wait times for a 4 top ranging from 10 minutes during the week to over an hour on weekends. Standing at the bar over a few drinks or killing time playing darts is well worth the wait for the food service. The energy-charged atmosphere generally features a mixed crowd ranging from post-grads in their mid-twenties to young families who have left the kids at home for the night.

The American-style menu at Twenty Tap features a full page of different sandwiches and burgers all with their own distinct theme. The Tex Burger comes cooked perfectly with bacon, onions, and provolone with a smothering of barbeque sauce. Appetizers feature Midwest favorites like Beer-Battered Cheese Curds ($7), Pimento Mac and Cheese ($6), and Pickled Beet Salad ($7). While classic American fare is at the heart of Twenty Tap's menu it is their vegetarian options that really sets them at top notch.

New twists on old favorites may be a suitable theme for this menu; The Roasted Mushroom Reuben ($9) is a vegetarian sandwich served on the traditional toasted rye with Russian dressing and all the toppings you would expect with tender roast Portabello mushrooms replacing the corned beef. The BBQ Tempeh Sandwich ($8) is a meat-free and vegan friendly take on the Sloppy Joe, mixing the hearty and grainy flavor and texture of tempeh with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. The Vegan Bahn Mi sandwich ($8) starts with a base of marinated tofu topped with pickled carrots, daikon, and other vegetables and herbs tossed in vegan mayonnaise and a spicy Mae Ploy chili sauce. The sandwich combines a smooth velvety texture with a mild heat kick and a crunchy-cool finish. For those not interested in tofu, the sandwich can also be served with pulled pork.
