FOOD: It's Back - a New (and Improved?) Smorgasburg Kicks Off Its Season

This past weekend, Smorgasburg Williamsburg kicked off its season on a beautiful spring day with a couple of changes, namely, a new location (just across the street) as well as a number of new vendors. Smorgasbar isn't back yet due to the liquor license process but I'm hoping it comes back soon just because day drinking and eating al fresco is high on my list of favorite combinations - in the meantime, let's just focus on the food.
My new favorite, which I must have missed last year is definitely Alchemy Creamery, serving up concoctions such as their ice cream and gluten/vegan free cake push pops (also known as Magic Wands - why didn't I think of this?) - while fully clad in wizard robes, obviously. The newbie list includes Baohaus, La Esquina, Floyd Eats (beer cheese), Kyotofu (tofu with toppings), and many more as well as El Gato Nacho, whose rumored-to-be-amazing duck confit nachos are something I'm hoping makes the Smorgasburg menu in the near future.
The newer location feels smaller to me, and between 12-2 pm I could barely move between vendors, but maybe its because this was opening weekend? I'm wondering if the adjoining lot belongs to them too, and if that's where Smorgasbar will go, and if they will provide more picnic tables, and all that. Anyway, Smorgasburg, we're glad you're back, and we're looking forward to spending many, many spring and summertime meals with you.
Visit Smorgasburg on Saturdays at East River State ParkāKent Ave. and N. 7 St. and Sundays in DUMBO at the historic Tobacco Warehouse in Brooklyn Bridge Park, 11 am - 6 pm, rain or shine.

I'm the worst. Can't remember where this carnitas taco was from, but it was delicious (look for the stand with the surfboard menu)
