FOOD: Gnocco [NYC]

I have walked by Gnocco many times living in the East Village and I am so glad that I finally went in.
First of all, this place is so cute.  The atmosphere is cozy and warm and the second you walk to the back of the restaurant you see a beautiful, lit, outdoor patio space that is actually quite large.  I can't imagine how great that would be in the summer, but this time of year it looked so beautiful.

I went on a Thursday night around 8:45pm as a group of six, which could be tricky in New York.  Lucky for us, it wasn't a problem.  We sat right down and were greeted with a waitress who read an endless list of specials.  Half of the time I zone out but they all sounded so good that I just kept listening.  And I was very happy when someone at the table spoke up and said we had to try the burrata.  Because we did.
For appetizers we ended up with the burrata, a plate of thinly sliced Italian meats, a margherita pizza, and a beet salad that was also a special.  I couldn't have picked a line up better than this and I have to be honest and say that I could have added another couple of apps and been perfectly satisfied.  Alas, there were some out of towners with us so we also ordered our own entrees.

I couldn't make up my mind and kept going back and forth between pasta and pizza.  I rarely order pasta so I went with the gnocci with Buffalo mozzarella and basil.  I think I may have won dinner that night.  But since I was pretty full from all of the apps, I had an epic lunch the next day.
All in all, this was a fantastic dinner.  Four-ish bottles of wine later, a few desserts (the creme brulee was amazing) I was already thinking about when I would get to come back.  While I don't know when that will be, I know that I can't wait.
