EVENT: Brooklyn Crush Wine Fest

I can’t think of a way I’d rather “fancy pre-game” for a concert then wine tasting! I was lucky enough to cover the Brooklyn Crush Wine Festival in Industry City, Brooklyn prior to catching Allen Stone at the Apollo which was absolutely amazing! They weren’t kidding when they said they would be featuring some local food & drink, some of the vendors have store fronts just one building away from the event space in Industry City.

The event although centered on wine included artisan foods, olive oils, baked goods, and my boyfriend’s new obsession Ends Meat a whole-animal salumeria that sampled dry aged meats from local pasture raised animals and a spreadable meat that my boyfriend described as nothing he'd ever tasted before and would like to taste over and over again . After doing a round I broke out of my dry white wine shell to try Hetta, a Nordic mulled wine served warm with rich notes of winter spices. This is a traditional beverage meant to be shared at gatherings, which makes sense as I doubt I’d break out a sauce pan to heat up one shot for myself….or would I?

Jazz played in the background as we made our way around the booths saw some more recognizable names such as Barefoot and Alamos wines which are always a go to in my house. Wines from Germany to the Finger Lakes filled the room with knowledgeable and friendly staff.  Since I enjoyed the tasting room experience so much in California I’m always searching for places that are reminiscent of my time in Healdsburg, Brooklyn Oenology had a line of tasty and refreshing wines that I look forward to sipping on in their unique tasting room in Williamsburg. This was just one of many events hosted by New York Wine Events up next is the NYC Autumn Wine Fest November 21st, you can find details here on The couch sessions.
