Muse Paintbar is not a regular bar, but if you’re looking for something fun and different to do while you drink, Muse is a pretty cool place.  Not too long ago it seemed that painting and drinking wine was the cool thing to do, but for whatever reason I never really gave it a try.  It was something that I always thought would be fun but never actually got around to.  A couple of friends and I had said for the past year that we should just do it and we finally did the other week.  And I honestly can’t wait to do it again.

We chose Muse Paintbar—one of my friends had heard good things and at first I was thrown off by the fact that it wasn’t BYOB.  I think I assumed it would be and then when I realized it was in Tribeca I was nervous it was going to be really expensive.  Turns out that wasn’t the case at all.  $39 covers the canvas and paints which actually might be a lot but if you like the painting and end up hanging it up in your house then it’s totally worth it.  Drinks there are not bad either.  They had inexpensive house wines (less than $10/glass) and loads of different beers to choose from in the $6 range.  We went with Not Your Father’s Root Beer which is so, so good.
If you find yourself in the same situation—you want to try a paint bar but don’t know which one, then definitely try Muse.  The instructor was fun and made it really easy to do, and I have no artistic skill whatsoever.  It was definitely a nice change of pace and I think I actually will hang that painting after all!
