#CIRCUSSXSW: Allen Stone

Allen Stone is a white dude with some serious soul. He plays a brand of R&B that would be right at home in the late 60s or early 70s and fits in with the recent trend of throwback soul with modern stylings by artists such as Amy Winehouse and Frank Ocean. Stone has self-released two albums, 2010's Last to Speak and 2011's Allen Stone. The latter of which was picked up by ATO Records and released nationally in 2012. The album is great but the best way to experience Allen Stone is definitely in a live setting. Luckily, you can check him out at The Circus Showcase during this year's SXSW Music Festival. The showcase is presented by The Couch Sessions and will go down next Friday, March 15th, between 1 pm and 6 pm. RSVP here to catch Allen Stone's performance along with sets by The Robert Glasper Experiment, Amp Live, Body Language, Jesse Boykins III, Cherub, and Hiatus Kaiyote. To whet your appetite, check out the below video for Stone's single, "Sleep."
