Vegan Street Fair 2016, Los Angeles

For two nights the Federal Bar in North Hollywood, CA hosted the second annual Vegan Street Fair. In 2015, VSF hosted 44 vendors and roughly 10,000 people. This year VSF boasted a massive 100 vendors, and 20,000 attendees over the two night event.
After the success of last year, the fair garnered a lot of attention, namely that of the Veganfatkid, who's vegan-based food and fitness Instagram account has over 119,000 followers. He decided that this year he wanted to help organize the event. Wanting something more intimate, he curated the event to include the interesting restaurants he has found while traveling and promoting his brand. To the Veganfatkid, this event was about bringing people together with food, music, and charity. I'll be donating my portion to MercyForAnimals, as I do with my #VeganAF clothing line.”
The night was all about animals, or really, the lack there of. The food and drinks were all provided by well known restaurants, food trucks, and breweries, all with animal-free menu options. Available to the crowds of hungry herbivores was everything from tacos from Taqueria La Venganza from Oakland, Burgerlords from Chinatown, to Vegan Dots from Palmdale, California. One booth alowed event-goers to borrow board games to play, others entertained themselves with giant ConnectFour, chess, and pool tables. For those people who weren't into Foosball or Scrabble, the band Flashpants played covers of hits from the 1980s, 90s, and today.
With lines that cleared the event space for almost all of the vendors, the VIP ticket was well worth the money at $40 compared to the $20 for the general ticket.  Not only did the Vip ticket allow for short line privileges, but it also came with the “swag bag” as the organizers called it. The large tote sporting the event name as well as the slogan “EAT ALL THE VEGAN THINGS” was filled to the brim with vegan-friendly goodies such as; dairy-free protein powder, truffles, soup mixes, chips, bee-free honey, and even cruelty-free face creams.

The second annual street fair was such a success that the organizers have already slated the date for the next event, March 19th, 2017. Come out, eat some great food, and take a couple pictures with the purple Happy Cow at the next Vegan Street Fair.
