LIVE: Project Fathom Presents: Already Famous

Yesterday evening in the LES across from the Manhattan Charter School lies a warehouse that would normally go largely unnoticed. However, when you throw an event with complimentary Sailor Jerry, the Munchie Mobile truck, a mini ramp, photo booth, Charlamagne The God, 40oz Van, Dee & Ricky, and a host of other local socialites one is bound to notice the organized debauchery. To add even more fuel to the fire, Project Fathom reached out and brought Venus X to inject life into the party alongside the young wolves, MellowHype, of OFWGKTA.

With a large elementary school hosting an adult intramural kick ball game down the block, I wasn't positive I arrived at the right location until I heard skateboards slamming across the rails, felt the husky baselines, and smelled fresh cigarette smoke to compliment the aroma of the Munchie Mobile food truck. I then knew that I was at Project Fathom's Already Famous launch party for Airwalk.

Besides the American flag draped as the back drop for small warehouse there was absolutely nothing for kids or the faint of heart in this fun loving wasteland of gorgeous women, liquor, botany, and well…MellowHype.

I had never been to an Odd Future show before and was definitely looking forward to this personally momentous occasion with the acrobatic Hodgy Beat and beatsmith Left Brain. Handle of Bombay on deck amongst avid New Yorkers and more, MellowHype did not disappoint despite having a shaky system with a faulty mic. All in all, it was a nice and steamy night in an very intimate venue with an occasional buzz kill from the guy who kept interrupting the set to get members of the crowd off the stage.

Already Famous is a series presented by Project Fathom for Airwalk that'll be bringing forth profiles, interviews, events, and much more in the near future. June 1st when it will all bust loose at www.skatefamously.com. So there you have it, the bar has been set and we expect good things moving forward from this partnership between Project Fathom and Airwalk.
