2016 marks the 30th year of SXSW Conferences and Festivals and the SXSW team is making sure it won’t be one to forget. To kick things off they are hosting a conversation with President Barack Obama for SXSW Interactive and First Lady Michelle Obama will be the keynote for SXSW Music on March 16th. This week the Couch Sessions team will be giving you insight into what events to hit and artists to check out. Trust, we got you!
Let's start with Interactive:
The Interactive festival is always a fun way to preview what media and tech companies have up their sleeve for the current year. One of the best events, consistently, is Mashable House. Every year Mashable connects with a ton of companies to give an interactive experience like no other. This year their team has promised to make it the biggest and best Mashable House thus far. As such, they are bringing all attendees “to the internet of the future.” Between March 11th to March 13th, Mashable is making sure attendees are well nourished by having Quaker provide brunch everyday and helping everyone to unwind at a secret speakeasy within the Mashable House. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the Qualcomm Invisible Museum, preview Flixel’s glitch art, and attend the Amazon Launchpad and Jamstik+’s pop-up concert/air guitar jam session amongst other things. On March 13, Mashable will be concluding their 2016 SXSW with MashBash at The Main.
Mashable House and MashBash at The Main at 610 East 6th St, Austin, TX, March 11-13th. RSVP here. #MashSXSW
Serato will be also be on deck, debuting their latest free iOS app, Serato Pyro and co-sponsoring the 2nd annual FLOODfest. Serato Pyro is one of the dopest new music apps out. It seamlessly mixes tracks from your device and Spotify playlist(s) for uninterrupted listening with their groundbreaking technology that ensures the pitch and timing is just right when transitioning to the next track. You can also check out exclusive playlists from the Roots, Mad Decent, Ta-ku and other musical heavyweights. Attendees of FLOODfest, Wednesday March 16 until Saturday March 19, will be able to try out the new app onsite. This year’s FLOODfest will feature Gallant, KING, Ra Ra Riot, Peaches, Vince Staples and many more.
FLOODfest is taking place on Wed, March 16th – Sat, March 20th at the Cedar Street Courtyard at 208 W 4th St, Austin, TX. Official SXSW badges are required for entry to FLOODfest. 21+.
