ART/DESIGN: Snohetta Addition at the SFMOMA

Norwegian total design firm Snøhetta's expansion plans for the SFMOMA in San Francisco brings you celebrations before their closing for the improvements. Set to open in early 2016, the new addition is reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim in New York City with it's sweeping white ribbons. The new building will sit behind the 1995 Mario Botta structure. Like the Guggenheim, the SFMOMA extension will be a monument to the modern art it displays.

To commemorate the closing and opening up of a new chapter for the museum they have been holding events with live music, custom shirt printing by Refinery 29, and more. You can see more on @SFMOMA's instagram.

The last day to visit the museum in it's current state is this Sunday June 2nd.
