ART & DESIGN: What To Do... What To Do... This Weekend

Some Stuff to do this weekend, wherever you are...

Get your boat shoes ready. AIA New York's Center for Architecture is running it's boat cruises around the island of Manhattan, NYC, in a 1920's style cruiser Yacht Kingston, as you explore the architectural and engineering wonders of the city. Guests arewelcome to complimentary beer, wine or champagne from the bar, light snacks, soda, water, tea or coffee. Additional beverages and a full bar are available for purchase.

Chelsea Piers (Pier 62) - W. 22nd and Hudson River (Manhattan - New York, NY). Exact meeting location details will be provided immediately upon purchase of tickets. The cruises run several times a day so check here for times and ticket purchases.

MoMA PS. 1 Warm Up

Now in its 16th year, the outdoor music series brings experimental live music and DJs—both local and international—across a range of genres. The party is set in the courtyard, which features a temporary urban landscape by CODA called Party Wall.

Chicago: AfriCOBRA: Art and Impact

This exhibit looks back at the work of Chicago artist group, AfriCOBRA (African Commune Of Bad Relevant Artists). The founding members, Jeff Donaldson, Jae Jarrell, Wadsworth Jarrell, Barbara Jones-Hogu, and Gerald Williams, came together in 1968 on the South Side of Chicago and influenced generations of Chicago artists, writers, actors, dancers, and musicians.

LA: Stephen Cohen Gallery: Ver • nac • u • lar

From the 40 year old collection of Stephen Cohen, Ver • nac • u • lar presents found photography he's gathered over the years. He says of the pictures, "Collecting vernacular photography is a compulsion for a truth, an honesty and sometimes a profound beauty that has been "found" in the artless intent of their makers and far removed from their original purpose, which continues to capture our imagination. – Stephen Cohen.
