New music from the ladies at Nina Sky. Ever since they dropped in 2004, the ladies have been constantly refining their sound. “Day Dreaming,” updates the sound further and sounds like a winner. Check it.

Surprisingly, I’m kind of digging Nina Sky right now. I was so not a fan of their 2004 mega-hit “Move Ya Body” but after a long break and a very dope style/image upgrade the Boriqua twin beauties from Queens have reemerged with a new EP The Otherside (produced by DJ Yonny – Fat Joe, Sean Paul and Nas) which borders on the line 0f dance, 80′s synth and free style. Their latest single “You Ain’t Got It (Funk That)” is a remix of some sorts of the 1994 ‘rap’ song “Why Is It? (Funk Dat) by Sagat. Although the song is somewhat of a joke now, I actually like Nina Sky’s version and  the video is laced  with a colorful NYC backdrop and super chic styling. Total girls’ video – check it out.

Twin sisters Natalie and Nicole Albino, better known as Nina Sky, gained national attention in 2004 for their radio hit “Move Ya Body” and their self-titled debut. As of August 2^nd, they are at it again with the release for their free EP, The Other Side.

After a six-year hiatus and shedding two record labels (Universal Records and Polo Grounds Music) it is no surprise that the duo have altered their sound since Nina Sky. With The Other Side Nina Sky has stayed put at the pop end of the spectrum, but now the production that backs the sisters up is decidedly more electronic and their music has entered the dance/electro-pop realm. Although the separation between the sub-genres is minuscule, it’s easy to distinguish Nina Sky’s new sound on The Other Side. There is nothing as radio ready on The Other Side as their past hit “Move Ya Body,” but this EP is still full of up-tempo and catchy songs such as “The Other Side,” “You Ain’t Got It,” and “Beautiful People” that are sure to satisfy Nina Sky fans. For anyone not in Nina Sky’s target demographic, the real standouts are “Only You” and “You Ain’t Got It (remix)” due to their guest versus from rappers Naledge (of Kidz in the Hall) and Melo-X.

When my homie Tittsworth (yes, real name) isn’t running U Street Music Hall, he’s touring the world as a producer and DJ. This track, Here He Comes is off of his 12 Steps album which dropped waaaay back in 2008. He enlisted fellow DMVers Nadastrom for the remix with Nina Sky and my favorite rapper Pitbull.

The video for the remix just dropped last month and was shot in New York by David Guinan.

I was never into Nina Sky. I know the whole ‘Move Ya Body’ song was crazy popular back in the summer of 2004, but I only listened to it (and knew every word) because unfortunately that was during my terrestrial radio listening days – so basically I had no choice (you know, how radio will play a song over and over and over again until you just want to like bang your head against a wall?).

So anyway, I didn’t think much about it when I heard that twin hotties Nicole and Natalie had dropped a video for their new single (off their soon to be released second album) called ’Beautiful People’ – but I turned out to be pleasantly surprised after seeing it. Both of them actually have very nice voices, something I never paid much attention to in the past, which makes me interested in hearing more from them. The song itself is not bad – they stick to their script and keep it dance oriented and the video to accompany it is pretty cool.  Not too sure about the ‘easy, breezy, beautiful Cover Girl part of the song… but ok (?) –  peep it below.
