You know we’ve been fans of LA’s Mateo mix of indie R&B and sould for a while, and although it’s been a hot minute since he’s dropped some recorded material, we’re glad to see his rendition of the hit Empire State of Mind come our way. He strips out the booming productions and vocals for this soft acoustic vibe….and it works. Check it.

Los Angeles based artist Mateo might have slipped under my radar, but he’s already on the lips of fans from Chris Brown, Mario, and Trey Songz, whom he has already opened for recently. The artist, who tours with an 8 piece backing band combines his obvious R&B influences and infuses them with a dose of alt rock. The Morehouse graduate, who once worked in the corprate world at American Express, has already signed a deal with MySpace Music and dropped this dope little video for his single “Get To Know Me.” Check it.
