Jack Splash feat. Kelis – In The Future

I’ve been wondering what happened to Jack Splash. The LA based musician is a king of the underground, but has also produced for such artists Alicia Keys, R. Kelly, Kelis, Estelle, John Legend, Solange, Anthony Hamilton and a Cee-Lo album (The Heart Attack) which needs to see light of day.

This track with Kelis is warming on me and is from a 3 Part Mixtape series which he will drop on the world soon.

BONUS: Since people asked about them a LONG time ago, here is the re-up to a couple of tracks from the Cee-Lo/Jack Splash collabo that never saw the light of day.

Jack Spash – Ringtone (feat R-Kelly and T-Pain)

If you don’t know, Jack Splash is the founding member of Plantlfie, and has been holding down the left-field side of the game for more than a minute now. Go back and check out The Return of Jack Splash, an excellent album that dropped in 2004. But for those who might want to dismiss this man, you might want to also check his production credits for the likes of Alecia Keys, Raheem DeVaughn, Solange, Jamie Foxx, and the now shelved (but excellent) collaboration with Cee-Lo called The Heart Attack.

For the track, “Ringtone,” Spash links up with T-Pain (rapping!) and R Kelly of all people for an electro-tinged, upbeat track that combines both elememnts of pop and mainstream. I remember in an inerview he did with Gilles Peterson that he was working with a lot more Top-40 artists for upcoming projects, and the result is pretty dope. I hear that there is a Jack Splash/Alecia Keys collabo floating around space somewhere. Anybody got it?? (via TSS)
