Award-Winning Talent Announced For Philadelphia’s Largest One-Day Festival

Philadelphia, PA (June 27th, 2011) Canadian recording artist Melanie Fiona and
singer/songwriter Anthony David will join British R&B singer Estelle for the 5th Annual
Global Fusion Festival (GFF) on Saturday, July 16th, 2011. The FREE concert,
produced by the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC) as part of PECO’s
Multicultural Festival Series, will run from Noon – 8:00 pm at Penn’s Landing.

Born Melanie Hallim to Guyanese immigrant parents in Toronto, Melanie Fiona has
earned chart success and industry recognition in the four years since signing a record
deal with Universal Motown and SRC Records. In 2007, she toured with rapper Kanye
West on the European leg of his Glow in the Dark Tour and in 2009, her hit-single “It
Kills Me” off of her debut album The Bridge, topped the Billboard Hot 100 R&B/Hip-Hop
Songs. In 2010, Fiona was nominated for several awards including a Grammy for Best
Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best New Artist at the BET Awards and Best New
Artist at the NAACP Image Awards. She has also won the Soul Train Award for Best
New Artist.

“We are thrilled to be adding Melanie Fiona to the Global Fusion Festival line-up,” says
MAC executive director Tanya Hall. “She is a great talent making waves in the music
industry and we are excited to be able to bring her to Philadelphia.”

Also joining Estelle and Melanie Fiona on the Global Fusion stage is Atlanta neo-
soul artist, Anthony David. Nominated for a Grammy within the category of Best R&B
Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for his song “Words” with fellow neo-soul
artist India Arie, David’s music has made the playlists of President Obama and the
First Lady. His first two independent albums were critically acclaimed and earned him
a record deal with Universal Records. His most recent album, As Above So Below, was
released in March 2011.
