NYC: DARK DISCO:: Builty by MeanRed with Star Slinger and DKDS
88 East Broadway
Star Slinger is an Electronic project created by Nottinghamshire born Darren Williams. It all started in April 2010 when he re-ignited his love for record-shopping in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Skip to August 2010 Star Slinger is also in demand with the indie community. Small Black championed his Remix of their song “Photojournalist”. The blogosphere championed his Unofficial Remix of Deerhunter’s “Helicopter” and has since been approached for Official Remix Work from some of his longtime favourite bands, including Broken Social Scene (Arts & Crafts) , The Morning Benders (Rough Trade) & The Go! Team (Memphis Industries). Darren has also formed a collaboration group with Emay (Rapper/Producer from Toronto) and Blackbird Blackbird (Dream-Pop artist from San Francisco) called Seeing Suge.
DKDS are rising stars of the NYC underground, night creatures whose main goal in life is to make you stay up too late and dance ’til dawn. DKDS is made up of Scrap and Chris – two tall, dark cousins who hail from Seattle and New York, respectively. The two reunited in Brooklyn over a mutual love of jackin’ deep house and techno and formed a DJ duo; over the last couple years their back-to-back sets have made a serious mark on NYC nightlife, one debauched party at a time. The boys recently caught the attention of MeanRed, who made them residents of their Dark Disco party deep Downtown. They’re also hard at work on original tracks with the edgy-yet-suave vibe that is their signature. Don’t sleep… no, really.
