Nightlife

If you’re in New York City

go to “1992″ tonight (Monday). I believe the only music played is the hip hop variety that was made in and before 1992. While there are definite mid 90s bangers that may get slept on, there are definite good times to be had.

Does anybody throw a dope Monday party in DC?

Mad Decent Block Party Pictures

Yes, more pictures, but I’m still coming down from the high that was last weekend–and I didn’t even make it to this event. The Mid-Atlantic region was on fire last weekend! Mad Decent took over 2 blocks in North Philly for the Mad Decent Block Party, which included our boy Dave Nada (and the introduction of Nadastorm), Blaqstar, Rye Rye, and a drunk grind dancing Elmo. This thing looked off the chain! I didn’t go to this one, but I’m damn sure wishing I did.

Check Mad Decent for more pictures.

Darfur Now College Tour

The Darfur region of Sudan is locked in a civil war which has resulted in the deaths of over 400,000 people and led to the displacement of 2.5 million people from their homes.. Unfortunately, however, this genocide has not garnered any substantial media attention in the United States, and the international response to this crisis (from NATO, the UN, and the US) has been tepid at best.

STAND and the Genocide Intervention Network have produced a documentary with Participant Media, titled Darfur Now, that highlights the struggle in that region through the eyes of different individuals on the ground in Sudan. From Hollywood Celebrities (Don Cheadle) as well as community leaders and activists.

The Darfur Now College tour is going to colleges across the country offering not only a free screening of the film, but free performances from such acts as Janelle Monae, Goapele, Zion I, Anthony David, Wale, and The Cool Kids.
