The 2019 SXSW Gaming three-day event, brought together a lattice of video games, panels, arcade culture and one of the best Halo Championship tournaments to
wristband holders and those without normal access to one of SXSW most coveted events. The Austin Convention Center which housed the SXSW Gaming Discovery stage, welcomed a celebrated cast of industry professionals which included Brendan Donohue (NBA 2K League), Aaron Webber (SEGA of America), Patrick Leder of (Leder Games) and Dr. Anthony Bean to name a few.
The featured speaker schedule was actioned packed with heavy hitters such as Nate Nanzer (Blizzard Entertainment), Mina Kimes (ESPN), Peter Moore (Liverpool Football Club), Chris Greeley (Riot Games) and Jacob Wolf (ESPN).
PC Arena hosted a broad range of games featuring daily tournaments and prizes. Open Play had attendees prepared to battle each other at Fortnite, PUBG, Rocket League and League of Legends. The PC Arena offered fans extended hours of PC gaming entertainment and loads of fun.
The Opening Party presented by Blankos, brought out the legendary Questlove and a sneak peek of the new PC game Blankos Block Party. The SXSW Gaming closing party, was presented by Alienware. It was an amazing event with an awesome engagement experience, it was two non-stop hours of music and gaming.
Wrapping up the SXSW Gaming was the Cosplay Contest and Gaming Awards. The Cosplay Contest had attendees dressing in their favorite comics, anime, and pop culture characters. The Gaming Awards recognized games that have made an impact during the year. This year’s highlights provided some of the finest work the industry has seen.
