FOOD: Cafe Mocha [NYC]

There are no shortage of coffee shops in New York. But if you’re looking for a place where you can have a meal, sit with a book and a cup of coffee, AND go for happy hour, then look not further than Cafe Mocha in the East Village.

I walk past Cafe Mocha at least 10 times a week. And while I have been there a few times, I really need to start going there more often. Over the summer I enjoyed a delicious iced cappuccino outside with a good book and stayed for close to an hour without feeling like I have to get up and leave. Located right on 2nd Avenue, Cafe Mocha is the perfect place to stop in for your coffee to go, or stay a while and maybe even enjoy some wine and people watch!

Now on to the hard stuff. I always see a sign that says they offer a free cheese plate with a bottle of wine. And while I haven’t done that yet, I really don’t know what the hold up is. That sounds like the most perfect way to unwind after a long day to me. And before the weather gets too cold, you will definitely find me there, wine and cheese in hand.

The food here is perfectly light and reasonably priced. They offer an endless list of eggs and great brunch options, but their menu is actually way more extensive than I thought and for dinner they have everything from salads to burgers to pasta. While I maybe wouldn’t recommend traveling from Brooklyn or the Upper West Side to come here, if you find yourself in the East Village and are hungry, tired, and or thirsty, definitely check this place out.
