There are few things as satisfying as the first night of the summer when you can eat outside.  2nd Avenue in the East Village is one of my favorite streets in the summer because there are so many restaurants with outdoor seating.  It’s kind of funny to think though that our idea of nice outdoor seating is 2nd Avenue, but it is what it is.
There are actually a lot of choices here and it was hard to choose one the other night.  Some places were packed, others not so packed, but we finally settled on Local 92.   I have walked by this place countless times and each time I made a mental note to save it for the summer.  They have plenty of outdoor seating and a happy hour that goes until 7, which is honestly a bit early for me as I almost never make it back to the neighborhood at that time, but nice none the less!

It’s a Mediterranean restaurant which is something new and different for me.  But it’s perfect for the summer because the food is lighter and healthier than some of my other tendencies (burgers).  We started with the burrata, no surprise here, and while it was good, it wasn’t the best burrata I’ve ever had.  That being said, even if it’s not the best it’s still pretty good!  I went with the salmon for my meal which was falafel crusted—how interesting!  And it came with a nice side salad and I happily ate the whole thing.  We left feeling satisfied and relaxed after a lovely outdoor dinner on 2nd Avenue.
I would definitely recommend Local 92—but if it’s not happy hour it’s a bit pricey, which I guess is actually average if you order wine, appetizers and entrees.  But it was definitely worth it to sit outside and eat a healthier meal.
