I’m definitely a creature of habit when it comes to food. I know what I like and I know what I’m in the mood for. But sometimes, especially when living in the city, I like to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. And that’s how I found myself at Caracas Arepa Bar on East 7th Street.
I have heard good things about this place from my friends and walk by it at least 7 times a week. I have never had an arepa before and didn’t even know what it was–but as it turns out, this is kind of right up my alley. Arepas are basically kind of like sandwiches except the bread part is corn based and resembles a pita. There are loads of filling choices–I had one with chicken and cheddar cheese and tried another one with mushrooms. But I will say that one is pretty big and was definitely enough for me.
The place itself is really small but super cozy, especially for the cold weather we’ve been having. But keep that in mind when going–perhaps it’s best for a small groups!
