While many other names come to mind when we think of great hip-hop producers, there’s no doubt in my mind the most underrated hip-hop producer of all time is DJ Quik. Take him out of the equation and the sound of West Coast Hip-hop would drastically. Through personal drama and a few short lived retirements Dj Quik has found a way to stay consistently dope going into his third decade as a musician in a genre where even a good five year run is seen as an abnormality.
He just dropped a new album called The Midnight Life . He recently got interviewed by NPR’s Jessie Thorn for Bullseye during its whoel press junket and it’s worth a listen below!
