All families – rich and poor – have a tinge of dysfunction. And no other play best depicted such dysfunction than Tracy Letts’ August: Osage County. The popular dark-comedy play has now moved to the big screen and can be watched in a theatre near you.
August: Osage County delves into the relationships between the members of a troubled family, whose individual paths have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Oklahoma house they grew up in. Violet Weston (played by Meryl Streep), the matriarch of the family has been recently diagnosed with cancer. Her children, now back in Oklahoma in the family home, must deal with Ms. Weston’s difficulties revealing truths about every individual character.
This was a great play and I’m sure with the list of A-list actors the movie will live up to its expectations. Check out the trailer and enjoy!
