Tokyo producer Cleindl recently popped onto our radar; man does not live by Western producers alone. He spent much of 2013 dropping remixes and using samples of modern R&B classics by Aaliyah and Ciara. His latest borrows the vocals from the later and kind of showcases a trend where much of of forward thinking R&B seems to be trying to go. After losing the live instrumentation funk of the 70’s, the pretty dance orientated synthesizers of the 80’s, the hip-hop influenced beats of the ’90’s and ’00’s, it seems many modern producers are going into layering sounds and unnatural sound patches leaving the melodies to the singers and the atmosphere to the beat.
and here’s some other tracks he’s dropped in 2013, and you can even hear more at his site here.
