EVENT: Wine [and Food] Crawling Through Meatpacking Uncorked

A pub crawl is an event that I could barely handle even at age 21, but replace the dive bars and cheap beer with free wine and high-end shops like Alice + Olivia, Vince, and Diane von Furstenberg, then throw a whole bunch of food trucks into the mix, and now we’re talking.  As part of the NYC Wine & Food Festival (and presented by Cupcake Vineyards), 22 eateries, 31 shops, and 8 different wine labels came together to provide the a neighborhood-wide wine slash food crawl for the masses (well, those that bought a ticket, at least).

The concept was pretty simple: check in, grab a map, pick up a wristband, visit the designated spots and go crazy.  Each map was also a ticket that allowed participants to sample one food items from each station, and the only problem that really happened here was long lines – but what food event doesn’t have long lines?

Vendors included trucks such as Carpe Donut NYC and Gorilla Cheese NYC, and even restaurants such as Bagatelle and The Diner.  I’m not really into STK’s whole deal, but I have to admit that my favorite food pick of the night was the Grilled Hanger Steak.  Drink wise – Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet was the way to go (we visited their Sephora station twice!).

I am so not a Meatpacking girl, nor am I a really a high-fashion girl (only in my dreams) but given the option to hang out at stores I would normally never set foot in, and grab unlimited wine at their counters, then meander around the neighborhood picking up free food on a beautiful night – I’m down anytime.
