So I stopped by the local farm a few weeks ago to see what they had in season. I grabbed some blueberries and thought about what I could make that would give their tartness proper justice. With the hurricane season approaching, a mashup of the classic Dark & Stormy seemed appropriate. Check the ingredients but don’t overdose. The cocktails I concoct are meant to sipped not inhaled.
1 1/2 ounces of Dry Fly Washington Wheat Whiskey
1/2 ounce of Gran Marnier or more to taste
1/2 bottle of ginger beer (I prefer Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew)
1 tablespoon of local honey
1. Muddle blueberries with honey and dash of freshly squeezed lemon.
2. Add the whiskey and Gran Marnier and gently stir.
3. Next fill the rest of the glass with ginger beer.
4. Add ice and serve.
