Singer/Songwriter/producer Jimi Nxir releases the first song from his upcoming EP GXLD. It’s got some of those trippy R&B elements the kids love nowadays; oddly timed snare drum stumbles, etc. But it’s garnish on top of a solid soul song; it’s a track that wouldn’t be out of place on a Soulaquarians mixtape ten years ago. It’s the kind of track with a sensuality that calls to mind sexy clothes, expensive brown liquor, and regretful morning text messages. Reminds me of a certain singer who has a fondness for Brown Sugar.
He sat down with those mean people at Vice for an interview. You can check that out here.
