MUSIC: Basement Jaxx – What A Difference Your Love Makes

by Reginald Duvivier

It’s fitting that with the current 90’s house revolution going on in dance music that of of the genre’s greats, Basement Jaxx, have just released a new song. The track, “What A Difference Your Love Makes” features all the trademarks that make a good Basement Jaxx song…about 3,837 different instruments playing together, a bunch of a dizzying amount of breakdowns and beat switchovers, and an unknown but great singer (this time Sam Brookes) going for broke.

It begins a bit more disco then they’ve done in the past kind of making you fear they’ve gone all retro like the robot traitors Daft Punk. But at around 32 minutes in they lay a pretty ass hammer down and it’s all pure high octane dance music from that point on.
