MUSIC: Afropunk 2013 Lineup Announced!

by Reginald Duvivier

The Afropunk Festival has finally earned its hefty title in this year. Pro-punk pioneers, Death, joins the lineup!. As young teens in the early 70’s Detroit their brand of breakneck rock laid the groundwork for punk as we know it today. Trust us, these guys alone would be worth it for you to wear your finest black leather and head down to’s like seeing a punk rock unicorn.

But the organizers of Afropunk didn’t stop there. You’ve got Trash Talk bringing their brand of hardcore mayhem: expect mosh pits. Another Detroit native, Danny Brown, comes through to bring his brand of off kilter raps to the masses and will hopefully keep his sexual proclivities to just rapping about it. Modern day twerk pioneer Big Freedia will be leading crowd wide booty bounces and pre-teen hellions Exploring The Truth bringing you the best thrash metal you can find in the Fisher Price aisle. Also some guy named ?uestlove is djing, anybody know who that is?

Basically this lineup is tailor made to rock your socks off. I know where Ill be on…..and Ill have my fucking Doc Martens on.

I don’t know what I’m more excited for, the fact that this lineup is crazy sick, or the fact that the place is going to be pumped up with crazy sick fans! Only 1 month away!!!!
